Blog Genome Project

Filed under: Uncategorized — rcondron @ 2:50 am

Help BlogSurfer.us in the very first Blog Genome Project.

Ok so maybe its not really a full blown “Genome Project”, but it’ll do just fine for BlogSurfer.us purposes.

Here’s how it works:
You will notice that a new rating menu has been added to the right of the “Currently Reading” box.

On each blog you stop and read please take a moment to rate it by clicking on one of the stars.

If the blog contains adult/mature/18+ content please click the flag.
This will not block the URL it will simply allow for users to filter out mature content if they choose to.

If the URL is not a “real” blog (i.e. non-blogs, blogvertisements, broken links) please click the block option.
This will mark the URL as a non-blog and will help immensely with cleaning up the blogroll.

Once enough ratings have been received I can begin to work on the really exciting part… building algorithms that will match your likes and dislikes with blogs that you might like to read.
Just imagine a BlogSurfer.us surfing session that is automatically fully customized to your preferences, and the more you rate the more accurate it will become.

As usual if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please either post a comment or email me:    support [at] blogsurfer.us

  4. I have an idea. Why not categorize and filter blogs by language? I am sure this is an excellent blog, for instance, but it is all Greek to me, literally:

    • lol It’s Greek to us as well 🙂

That’s a great idea! I will submit the idea for future development.
